Charles Newey is a student from the UK, currently studying for a Bachelor in Computer Science at Aberystwyth University in Wales. He recently completed a 12-months placement at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire in the UK, working on a high-performance geospatial search system with Elasticsearch. Charles is interested in devops and system administration, machine learning, search systems and data visualisation. As a summer student at CERN he is working on optimising the log monitoring and anomaly detection pipelines for virtual machines in the IT-DB group using Apache Flume, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, and Kibana.
