Seagate has entered into a three-year partnership with CERN openlab to collaborate and develop the Kinetic Storage Platform for the Large Hadron Collider.
The partnership aims to help CERN manage and store the 100 petabytes of data the Large Hadron Collider has generated to date, as well as the additional 2-3 petabytes of information it produces on a monthly basis in its quest to further humanity's understanding of the universe.

Im Rahmen einer Partnerschaft mit Seagate will das CERN Openlab die Storage-Optionen der Kinetic-Plattform testen.
Seagate hat eine dreijährige Partnerschaft mit dem CERN Openlab geschlossen, um gemeinsam an der Entwicklung der Kinetic-Open-Storage-Plattform zu arbeiten. Sie soll dabei testweise dazu dienen, die vom Large Hadron Collider (LHC) generierten Daten zu speichern und zu verwalten. Bisher hat der Teilchenbeschleuniger bereits 100 PByte an Daten erzeugt und liefert monatlich weitere zwei bis drei PByte an Informationen.
