CERN openlab’s summer student programme ended last month, after 37 students spent nine weeks working on advanced computing projects with applications in high-energy physics and beyond.

Over the summer, the students attended a lecture series, visited ETH Zurich’s office and joined a hackathon — working on advanced computing projects with applications in high-energy physics and beyond.

At the same time, the students were also dedicated to their individual projects, which covered a diverse range of topics, including high-performance computing, big data, visualisation and machine learning.
