Oracle joined CERN openlab in 2003 and has collaborated with CERN for more than 30 years. A celebration was organised on 1 February 2013 at CERN to celebrate this 30th birthday at the occasion of the IT requirements for the next generation research infrastructures workshop.

Rolf Heuer, CERN DIrector General, and Loic le Guisquet, Executive Vice President, Oracle Europe, Middle East, and Africa, highlighted the value of this relationship, after which Rolf Heuer handed over an award to thank Oracle for their longstanding collaboration and fruitful contribution to the CERN scientific programme.
