The European Society of Preventive Medicine (ESPREVMED) is a non-profit organisation and fellowship of world leaders dedicated to P4 Medicine (preventive, predictive, personalised, and participatory medicine) with the aim of advancing prevention of diseases, prediction of risks, and promotion of health and well-being. The Society works at the intersection of basic research, clinical medicine and public health with a focus on chronic diseases (non-communicable diseases, NCDs). GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GmbH operates a worldwide unique large-scale accelerator for heavy ions. Every year about 1,000 researchers from around the world use this facility for experiments that help them make fascinating discoveries in basic research. The scientific goal is to gain new insights about the building blocks of matter and the evolution of the universe. At GSI for example six new elements have been discovered. In addition GSI scientists develop new applications in medicine and technology, e.g. a new type of tumor therapy using ion beams. |
